Energy Company Reduces Costs by Scanning Thousands of Engineering Drawings
Video Testimonial: PSEG on Document Scanning Services
Our Client
Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) is an integrated generation and energy services company headquartered in Newark, NJ. One of the ten largest electric companies in the U.S.A., PSEG employs 13,000 people and serves 2.2 million electric customers and 1.8 million gas customers.

Challenges
PSEG was storing hundreds of thousands of architectural and engineering drawings of their public service utilities in what they called "the dungeon", or the bulk document storage room in the basement of the building that the company was renting.
Any time they needed access to these documents, they had to go downstairs, locate the appropriate files, scan them, and return them to their document storage facility.
In addition to the time and expense related to access the documents, the large format documents occupied lots of square footage adding additional, recurring overhead.
"We had 170 thousand drawings ... stored in the basement of Public Service.
Now everything is in a little hard drive that MTS gave to us. It was amazing."
- Felix Ruiz, Technical Specialist, PSEG
Solutions
MTS Software Solutions was able to scan over 170,000 large format drawings – Mylar, paper, velum – and convert them into indexed, digital files stored in a pocket-sized external hard drive.
PSEG can now search, access, and collaborate on these documents directly from their desks saving time, money, and hassle.
